Glass Bead

Here is an audio recording of an interview I did with Inigo Wilkins (author of Irreversible Noise), for the Glass Bead audio research program in 2014, while I was organising the ‘Emancipation as Navigation‘ (#Emancinav) Summer school at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin.

The interview covers a wide range of topics, from logic and rationality to aesthetics and art, all wrapped up in the possibilities for renewing philosophical universalism. If you want a feel for the context in which the interview took place, here’s a Downfall meme created by a friend about the Emancinav event.

You can also read the piece I wrote for the inaugural issue of the Glass Bead journal (‘Castalian Games’), which explores some of these themes by discussing the philosophical themes implicit in the novel from which it gets its name: Herman Hesse’s Glass Bead Game.
